How to pdf to excel

How table detection works
PDFs do not store tables as tables - they store text at coordinates. This tool reads the position of every word on each page with PDF.js, groups words into rows by vertical proximity, orders them into columns by horizontal position, and writes the grid into a real .xlsx with SheetJS: one sheet per page, named after the page.
It works best on grid-like layouts: financial statements, price lists, invoices, timetables, exports from other systems. Where the PDF shows aligned columns, the spreadsheet gets aligned columns.
The output is honest about its nature: values come out as text, matching what the PDF displays. Formulas, merged cells and formatting do not exist in the PDF, so they cannot exist in the output.
Limits and honest notes
Free-form prose extracts as one long row per paragraph-like line, not a clean table - this tool is for pages that actually look tabular. Multi-page tables arrive as separate sheets (one per page) rather than one stitched table.
Scanned pages have no text positions at all: run them through OCR PDF first. Up to 50 MB per document. Detection and the workbook build happen in this tab; nothing is uploaded.

What kinds of tables work best?
Grid-like layouts with aligned columns: invoices, statements, price lists, timetables. The more aligned the columns in the PDF, the cleaner the spreadsheet.
Why one sheet per page?
Keeping pages separate preserves the document structure and avoids stitching mismatched columns. You can merge sheets in Excel in seconds.
