About WebP and JPG
WebP is Google's image format, built to make web pages lighter. It compresses 25 to 35 percent smaller than JPG at the same visual quality, which is why half the modern web serves it. The catch is everywhere WebP does not go: older Windows photo viewers, some printing services, government upload forms, many desktop apps, and any software that has not been updated in years.
Converting WebP to JPG trades that efficiency for compatibility. The browser you are using right now decodes WebP natively, so this tool needs no extra download and starts instantly. Each image is decoded at full resolution and re-encoded as a JPG at your chosen quality.
Animated WebP converts to a still of its first frame; there is no video path here. Photos, screenshots and graphics all convert the same way, honouring the colour profile baked into the file.
Choosing a quality
Quality 90 is the default and matches how WebP looks in practice: the JPG is a little larger than the WebP was, and no difference is visible. Quality 75 shrinks the file further with slight softening you will only find by zooming. Below 60, skies and skin develop the blocky texture JPG is known for.
If the file is headed for a web form that accepts only JPG, quality 85 to 90 is the sweet spot: comfortably smaller than a PNG, visually indistinguishable from the source.
Limits and honest notes
Metadata is removed by default, including any GPS coordinates the WebP carried. Turn the toggle off to keep it.
Lossless WebP and lossy WebP both decode correctly; the output is always a standard baseline JPG that opens anywhere.
Files up to 25 MB each, 100 files per run. Nothing is uploaded: watch the Network tab if you want proof.
Frequently asked questions
Why do websites even use WebP?
It is smaller than JPG for the same picture, so pages load faster and servers send less data. The tradeoff is compatibility with older software, which is exactly what this converter solves.
Will the JPG be bigger than the WebP?
Usually yes, slightly: WebP is more efficient. That is the cost of a file that opens everywhere.
Does it work for animated WebP?
You get the first frame as a still JPG. Animation does not carry into the JPG format.
Are my images uploaded?
No. The whole conversion runs in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Can I convert a whole folder?
Select all the files at once: up to 100 per run, downloaded individually or as one ZIP.
